Short description of advertisement:
A Dutch concrete manufacturer is looking for partners that can help to supply or develop innovative solutions to replace the currently used polyethylene foam with a sustainable and environmentally friendly, degradable alternative.

The Dutch concrete factory was founded in the 2004 and is now one of the leaders in the production of a large variety of prefabricated concrete elements; from structural walls to columns or floors.
The different concrete elements are stocked and then transported to the customers. For this logistical process specific spacers  are used, in the industry these are known as “hands” or “fists”. The spacers ensure that the elements to be stored and or transported do not come into contact with each other and thus cannot be damaged.

The spacers are U-shaped, made of hot-dip galvanized steel. To prevent damage to the concrete elements, the U-shaped spacers are currently covered with  a strip of polyethylene foam. From a sustainability point of view, the polyethylene foam strips / pads do not contribute to the sustainable strategic goals of the SME. In principle the foam pads are for one-time use. After transport they are thrown away, or worse; they are strewn around the construction site. Lots of them are spread by the wind and thereby are a burden to the environment.

The present used material of the protection strips is not degradable and thus can pollutes the construction site and the environment. Enforcement agencies are also drawing the company's attention to this fact more and more frequently. This is obviously not desirable, because the SME wants to be the greenest concrete factory in the Netherlands. As the concrete manufacturer believes that it is their responsibility to find reliable, efficient and effective ways to reduce waste and increase the recycling of materials.

The company is looking for a solution to cover these spacers "on site" in a robust and sustainable way so that they permanently substitute the properties of the present foams. Sending the spacers off to a factory that can cover them is not an option. Fitting the protection cover, the spacers (“hands”) must be possible on site.

In this respect the company is looking for innovative solutions for lining the spacers or alternatively create an new type of spacer .

The company has the intention to conclude a supplier cooperation agreement, but there is scope for discussing other forms of cooperation and agreements.

IMPORTANT: This technical cooperation request refers to an innovation challenge published on the internet platform. If an organization expresses interest before closing date, it will be guided towards this open innovation platform. After registration participants can browse free through other submissions and engage in discussions. All submissions will get feedback by the company on this open platform. The challenge opens on January 17th  and closes on  21 st February, 2022 Mind that posts on this platform are not confidential. Beside open discussions on the platform, sharing of confidential information will be made possible on demand. After that, the firm will select the SME's with whom they would like to cooperate in the development of a solution. Once the challenge is closed, Expressions of Interest for this technology request will be treated in the traditional way.

Short description of advertisement:
The German company has been active in online trade with accessories for notebooks for two years and is looking for a professional hardcase manufacturer. Preferably the partner should be experienced in hardcase production from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastics or aluminium alloys.

The German start-up was founded 2019 and has specialised in online trade with accessories for computers and mobile communication devices, especially cases for notebooks. The company is looking for manufacturers of hardcases made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastics or aluminium alloys.

The hardcase should have a slim, smart and clean minimalistic look. The product which is currently under development will combine outdoor hardcase characteristics with a compact and clean looking design. The outdoor specifications include toughness as well as shock and water resistance - if possible in connection with a waterproof seal.

With regard to the stage of development, the start-up is currently finalizing the prototype. To this end, the team is working on including further parts into their prototype. Their challenge is that special parts such as locks and hinges have to be attached or integrated into to the hardcase top and bottom case parts.

Concerning the manufacturing agreement envisaged, the management is interested in different pricing options for the moulds which have to be designed for producing their hardcase with aluminium or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) materials. A specific mould will be needed in order to produce their customized products according to the existing design specifications. Therefore, the company would like to evaluate in a first step which material would be the most cost-efficient way to produce their hardcases. This can be either aluminium or ABS. The company would like to choose the most cost-efficient approach, while keeping their design standards as well as technical characteristics of the hardcase high.

For a successful cooperation, the start-up is looking for a business partner who can work according to their design specifications. The partner should be willing to finalize the prototype together with the German company. The manufacturer should be able to include the special parts such as hinge (preferably torque hinges) and lock types. A waterproof seal is preferable but not a must. These and more characteristics can be discussed in order to finalize the prototype together and later on create a mould for the production of a series.

The company is looking for reliable partners. A long-term cooperation is envisaged. They aim to grow the business together by producing and reinvesting in new products of the same category and more.

The company is additionally looking for manufacturers of foaming/padding later on, as they need to fill their hardcases with a matching foam or padding. This can be either the same or another business partner.

For further information please take a look at their business request for padding/foaming manufacturers under the profile reference: BRDE20210917001

Their mission is to produce reliable and trustworthy protective equipment, combined with unique style and designs under their own registered trademark or brand. Their goal is to distribute their products internationally through business-to-consumer and business-to-business companies and partners.

Short description of advertisement:
A Danish company, which has been supplying and installing green roofs for more than 10 years, is looking for a new supplier for specific plastic trays.

The Danish company has been supplying and installing green roofs for the professional and private market for over 10 years. The product itself is a climate friendly addition to the roof, where both professionals and private customers can benefit from the green vegetation. The green roofs are eco-friendly and provide also benefits from an economic perspective. For private housing it has been shown from research from the National Council Canada that a comprehensive green roof reduced the daily need for air conditioning in the summer by over 75%.

All projects are based on vegetation rolls which are purchased from an external supplier laid on a level of permeable trays or blankets to allow drainage. Through over 10 years of specialising in green roofs, the company has established itself as a main supplier in the Danish market and the go-to company for customers and architects who require technical assistance.

To expand its operations, the company has commenced production of vegetation blankets at a new location, which will increase the possibilities for improved logistics and export. The company also recognises a growing trend for the use of vegetation trays instead of blankets and underlying layers. These are often used by the roofing companies who install themselves as they feel it simplifies the installation process.

The company is now looking to expand its operations and is therefore searching for a supplier of both plastic and sustainable plastic-free trays to their own specifications.

A UK-based SME has designed and developed a range of coffins from a natural biopolymer material that is both natural and biodegradable providing a more green alternative for funerals. These coffins are also available for pet burials.

The impact that activities have on CO2 emissions and climate change are ever more important and no area of life is exempt, including death and funerals. With increasing numbers of people wanting to bury their pets when they've died the environmental pressure of funerals is set to increase.

A UK-SME has developed a range of coffins, including pet coffins, that are made from a biopolymer that is completely natural and biodegradable. Even when cremated these coffins release no more CO2 than natural wood.

The coffins can be manufactured through injection moulding of the biopolymer material. The UK SME is looking for manufacturing companies that is able to manufacture these coffins in a range of sizes to accommodate the pet market through injection moulding. It is expected that the partnership will take the form of a manufacturing agreement.
